Sculptlet #3: Incidental Exercise
Do you know someone who just can’t sit still, someone who seems to fidget all day? You know. Like those nervous habits, wiggling their legs and feet or shaking their pen in between strokes. You should adopt some of those fidgeting habits if you want to burn more fat and calories.
We refer to fidgeting as unplanned activity, unplanned exercise. Standing up and moving around without even thinking about it. It’s known as “incidental exercise” and it’s just one way to work physical activity into your life and burn fat and calories without working out.

- Make phone calls hand free so you can walk around while you talk.
- Do some stretches at your desk 2 times a day, morning and afternoon.
- Use a stand-up desk or sit on a stability ball at your desk.
- Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
- Do 5 squats above your chair each time you get up to go to the bathroom or get a drink.
Get Incidental Exercise by getting things done – Productive Incidental Exercise
Want to feel like you’re getting something accomplished when you do move? Incidental exercise also includes activities of daily living, which we refer to as productive incidental exercise.
